Once I was sitting on a glacier ridge in Alaska, taking in the peace of the landscape, when an eagle flew a couple meters above my head. I was really young and the memory stays as one of my most fantastic life experiences ever. Eagles are big! I almost felt it could have snatched me up like some elven fantasy.
The birds of Alaska are amazingly diverse and wonderful to watch, but experiencing an eagle so close will forever be a highlight in my Alaskan experiences.
